Origin of Reiki
The Reiki Art of Natural Healing was discovered at the turn of the century by Dr Mikao Usui. He believed that teachers, such as Jesus and Buddha were in contact with a transcendent source of energy when they taught and performed healing.
He believed that this source is always present. The question was: how to make contact with it? To find what he sought, Dr Usui spent many years travelling, studying ancient texts from both Eastern and Western traditions. These years of study prepared him for a deep meditation in which he received the gift of Reiki. After time healing others, Dr Usui decided to share his knowledge with others. Dr Usui’ s method of teaching and healing is passed from teacher to student. This healing art is now known as Usui Shiki Ryoho or The Usui System of Natural Healing.
